Learn to Sail Day
|

 |
December 9, 2007
The international sailing season is now
officially open, with a squad of yachts having arrived in the last week or
so.
Included in these are the vessels Skylark II and Hygelig, who have both
generously agreed to participate in the upcoming Mieco Beach Yacht Club's
Learn to Sail Day.
Being held this Sunday, December 9, the event is open to all and the club is
expecting dozens of potential crew to take part in this first function of
the season.
The day is split into two, with a classroom style 'lecture' in the morning
that will see sailing experts give instruction on everything from how to use
a winch to safety at sea. After lunch, crew will be transported to the
participating yachts to enjoy couple of hours of learning the basics of
sailing on the lagoon.
Registration for the day will be at 9am at the Boknake in the grounds of RRE
Hotel and costs $20.
The Learn to Sail Day will be followed by the first race of the season on
Sunday, December 16. Potential crew can vie for a spot on a yacht by
attending the Club's skippers' meeting at their 'clubhouse' (a.k.a. Marshall
Islands Resort) at 6pm on Friday, December 14.
